The Central Florida Composers Forum, Florida poets, and the Sovereign Brass are proud to honor the dedication and service American military veterans by presenting Canines for Veterans, a program of music and poetry November 9, 10, and 11 throughout the state of Florida. Proceeds from these concerts will be donated to K9s For Warriors, a Florida-based charity that provides service dogs to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. The performances are sponsored by the Bryce L. West Foundation, Herschel Lasik, the Timucua Arts Foundation, and Full Sail University.
The concerts will feature patriotic standards as well as world premieres of new music and poems presented by Florida composers and poets. The concert will be performed three times:
Tickets are on sale now for all three concerts through the links above. Please help us to support the great work K9s For Warriors does to help American military families.
Please also support Artists for Veterans, a companion art auction presented by the Timucua Arts Foundation. The auction will be held Nov. 3, beginning at 5:30pm at the Gallery at Avalon Island in downtown Orlando. See the Timucua projects page for more details.
The Central Florida Composers Forum (CF2) is an organization of composers and new music practitioners dedicated to engaging the creative and larger community of Central Florida through the promotion of original and innovative music programming. Central Florida Composers Forum strives to be part of a larger cultural conversation where the musical, visual and other performing arts connect with audiences, foster vital collaborations, and produce multidisciplinary performances. Cultivating an audience for new music through education, workshops and outreach programs that create memorable artistic experiences for youth and community members are also central to the mission of Central Florida Composers Forum.
K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to military veterans suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. Our program is unique, and no other organization operates quite like K9s For Warriors. Every warrior that walks through the door is family. We provide them with a service canine, equipment, training, certification, seminars, legal instruction, vet care, housing, home cooked meals, unconditional love and listening, and life-time of wrap-around services (including available life-long healthcare and food for their dogs). The K9s program is 100% free for the veteran. We have our warriors’ backs.
